Vector has a responsibility to ensure the organisation and its employees are competent to perform any tasks that impact on occupational health and safety in the workplace. The company has established procedures for the training of employees to ensure awareness of:
- The importance of the Occupational Health & Safety system and its benefits to the organisation.
- Their roles and responsibilities in achieving conformance
- The consequences of departure from procedure
- Specific requirements of the system and procedures such as, working with electricity, confined space entry, hot working Etc.
- The requirement of all new staff to receive induction training.
A schedule of training is established on an annual basis in the form of a training matrix. This schedule may be amended to reflect the changing needs of Vectors organisation, our client’s organisations or legislative requirements.
Training records will be maintained at Head Office and on site within our quality control system.
Consultation and Communication
Information, procedures, objectives and policy concerning the occupational health and safety system is available to all employees and interested parties. This information is communicated through:
- The Occupational Health & Safety Manual
- Vector website
- The consultation mechanism as laid out in the Safety Statement
Any matters relating to occupational health and safety issues can be raised by any employee in accordance with the Safety Statement. Both employees and management may call a meeting to discuss any potential hazard or to organise preventative action.
Employee involvement in the occupational health and safety system is not only a legal requirement but an essential ingredient of hazard identification, risk assessment and control. It is an integral part of how Vector does business.
